Building and PlanningThe Planning Department oversees implementation of the General Plan and the General Plan Update, with guidance from The Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance, Design Guidelines and Specific Plans. Planning staff also utilize capital improvement planning and development agreements. The department also establishes development related policies and conducts environmental review and processing of private development applications for public hearings.
Our department interacts with other agencies, public groups and task forces, to promote beneficial planning for the community. The Planning Department is staff to the Planning Commission, and coordinates project design review through the City Council.

Planning staff works throughout the year tracking regional planning issues of local significance and making recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council. Our department has two full time staff members.
